Who is Ümit Akpınar, Mayor of Ereğli?

Ümit Akpınar was born in 1972 in Ereğli, Konya.

After completing his high school education in Ereğli, he graduated from the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at the Faculty of Language, History and Geography at Ankara University.

He completed his teaching formation at Selçuk University Faculty of Education.

He began his career as a literature teacher at Polatlı Imam Hatip High School.

He later worked at various schools and private courses in Ereğli.

In 2019, he resigned from his position to become a mayoral candidate for Ereğli Municipality.

He returned to his profession the same year and retired in 2023.

Akpınar, who is married and has two children, currently resides in Ereğli.
